TL;DR: I'm a developer who runs her own business with 3 live products and loves building cool things ^_^. Latest one is a worldwide directory of what indie AI builders are shipping.
I started out as a fine art photographer, then spent a decade in tech going backwards through the usual order: marketing director, then product manager, then developer. Most people move toward management. I wanted to build the thing myself.
As marketing director, I ran campaigns with $300K+ in monthly ad spend and scaled one company from $100K to $500K in monthly revenue in 8 months, growing the team from 8 to 40 along the way. Somewhere in there I got deep into automation and user journeys, which turned out to be the bridge into product.
As product manager, I took products from concept to launch. One was a Facebook integration that Facebook picked as an official case study. Another was a voice AI product built on Alexa, working shoulder to shoulder with engineering, close enough that I wanted to be the one writing the code.
I also co-founded an e-commerce company: raised $200K+ in crowdfunding, built a community of 110K followers in 3 months, and had it profitable within 8.
Eventually the pattern was obvious, so I became a developer. Turns out taking an idea from nothing to a real, running thing is the part I love most. Three SaaS products built so far: 2 live, 1 in beta, and more coming.
